What we’re about
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT AND OUR CODE OF CONDUCT
Life is good. Let's get out, meet some amazing people, try new foods, experience fun, safe outings and really enjoy life. In order to build a better community for the people that the Social Club serves, the organizers want to clarify a CODE OF CONDUCT to foster safe, fun, enjoyable social spaces and give fair access to all events.
The event details are a crucial element of the seamless management of the club. It is the responsibility of each member to read and follow in addition to Our Code of Conduct.
CODE OF CONDUCT
- Show respect. We respect the time and effort of the hosts and organizers. At social functions, we respect the comfort level of each member in sharing their physical space and personal information.
- Be authentic. Have a picture. People connect with real people (not cats or pictures of the beach) so show who you are by posting your real picture on your meetup profile. It’s ok not to look like Christie Brinkley or Brad Pitt. We will like you anyway. Yet, on most days my pet looks better than me.
- 3 strikes for any reason...you will be removed. If you don't cancel your RSVP or do so in a timely manner it is disrespectful to the host, people on the waitlist and the venue (like restaurants holding reservations of half empty tables). We ask that if you RSVP yes but are not going to attend the event, please change your reservation at least a week (7) days before the event is happening. If you don't, you will have ONE STRIKE AGAINST YOU. This gives members on the waitlist time to respond and be aware of notifications. Cancelling the day before, or the day of a HIGH END EVENT for any reason, other than sickness, is a 2 strike rule. AND IF YOU KEEP REPEATING THAT REASON... you will be removed at the host's discretion. There are only (3) excused absences within the year for any reason. The same protocol will be used for removal from the group.
- Meet in person first. We all like to get mail, but it may be unsettling for some to get a random direct message from someone they have never met in real life, so it is highly recommended that you come out to an event, get to know real people in real time in the real world before continuing your interactions virtually through the meetup direct messaging or email. Having said that, please feel free to reach out to the host or one of the organizers with any questions at any time.
- Not a dating service. It is certainly wonderful if a new friendship blooms into romance organically but if your primary intention is to look for potential dates, you are in the wrong place. There are other websites and meetup groups better suited for that purpose.
- Annual Fee. We ask current and pending members to contribute a $10..00 non-refundable annual fee to cover basic overhead costs. New members will be approved when their dues is received within 3 days of their request to join.
Please ETR to Cindy at [email protected]. - There will be a non-refundable, non-transferable rsvp charge of $5.00 for high-end, popular events.
ANITA CREATED TORONTO SENIOR SOCIAL CLUB. WE ALL OWE HER A DEBT OF GRATITUDE.
She took the initiative to start a senior group because she saw a need in our community. I am honored to carry the torch and profoundly thankful to have witnessed not only her dedication to providing diverse events but her patience, kindness and understanding will long be remembered by myself and TSSC members.
