What we’re about

Welcome!! This group is for those who are interested in the local music scene in Venice, Sarasota, Englewood, Punta Gorda and surrounding areas. We will post local live music events regularly for all of us to get together to attend. All members are welcome to attend and anyone is welcome to host!! We have an incredible music scene down here in Southwest Florida, this group is designed to experience those talents and support our local musicians!!!
Note that effective October 2024, all members will receive a 60-day trial period to ensure our group meets your interests. If you choose to remain a member, there is a $5 annual membership fee. I trust that you will receive at least $5 worth of entertainment from our group each year!!!!!! 😊

For all our Rush fans, this band will be incredible to see. They played here last year and were phenomenal! Opening band, Iconic, from the Dallas/Ft Worth area, will also be performing, playing many of our favorite rock songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s!

We have a reserved table for our group. When you arrive, tell hostess you are with the Venice Music Scene group, or look for our signs on the table.

Come join us at the Celtic Ray in Punta Gorda on Thanksgiving night to enjoy some great classic rock, blues, and funk tunes by one of our favorite local bands, Phenomenal Animal.

The band is based in Ft. Myers and tours throughout southwest Florida. This will be their first appearance at the Celtic Ray, their first scheduled event in October was canceled because of the storms.

Phenomenal Animal plays a lot of great classic rock, funk and blues hits from bands such Traffic, Cream, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, Grand Funk Railroad, the James Gang, many others, plus a few of their own funky original tunes. Definitely a band to get you on the dance floor.

No cover charge for this event. There is no reserved seating for this event, it is first come first serve! I strongly encourage you to get there early for a seat. The band starts at 8pm, but other bands will be there prior. This is a full evening of food and live music celebrating Thanksgiving!! Their kitchen is open and they have some awesome authentic Irish food!!

Join us for our annual Christmas Lights Canal Boat Cruise on Charlotte Harbor on Sunday, December 8 at 6pm. Boarding begins 30 minutes before departure. This is a one-hour cruise that tours the residential canals of Charlotte Harbor to view the Christmas lights, displays, and decorations on the homes, boats, seawalls, and docks along the bay.

The cost is $32 per person, plus tax.

You can purchase your ticket in advance by calling King Fisher Fleet directly at 941-639-0969

Be sure to purchase your ticket for the correct date, time, and boat.

You can purchase your ticket online if you prefer, but there is a service fee for purchasing online.
Go to https://kingfisherfleet.com/christmas-light-canal-cruise/ and click on the BOOK link specifically for the above boat with the correct date and time selected.

Note that we do not have the group rate because that requires we pay in full in advance for all the tickets at one time.

Once purchased, your name is on their list. On the night of the event, you will give your name to the person at the ticket booth and they will provide you with your boarding pass. The ticket booth is located halfway down the main pier of Fisherman’s Village on your right hand side.

There are restrooms on board.

They serve cocktails, beer, wine, soda, water, and coffee, along with snacks such as chips, crackers, and cookies on the boat.

However, they accept debit and credit cards and Apple pay only. You can tip with cash, and we ask that you also tip your boat crew at the end because they work hard for us. This is always a really fun event!!!

I encourage everyone to come down to Fisherman’s Village before our cruise to enjoy the beautiful decorations, Christmas music, finish your holiday shopping, and enjoy the beautiful holiday spirit of Fisherman’s Village. It is beautiful down there.

You can park for free in the Fisherman’s Village parking lot or local street parking as posted.

For directions, set your GPS to 1190 West Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda. The location is in the Fisherman’s Village Shopping pier.

Hold the date: We are celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Twisted Fork on Tuesday night, December 31st.

Our reservation is for 6:30pm. You can come anytime at or after 6:30, we don't expect people to stay for 6 hours!!! But you can!!! Non-VIP seating area. No cover charge.

Three bands:

The Storytellers: a fantastic musical duo playing many well known tunes from various genres of music!

John Salaway and the Regulators: This band plays an incredible mix of classic rock, funk, blues, and several of their own original music. John grew up in Englewood and is truly a local favorite!!

Maiden Cane: Southwest Florida’s original purveyors of the Arena Rock sound. Playing your favorite rock hits and anthem music from several decades of rock. This band is highly favored by our music community!
