PULPIT ROCK & PINNACLE LOOP NIGHT TIME HIKE

DESCRIPTION
Expect a mostly gradual 1000'+ ascent and then a mostly flat trail from the Pinnacle to the Pulpit. From the Pulpit the trail is flat, and then there's a 1000'+ descent back to the parking area.

This popular loop offers incredible night time views of Lehigh Valley and the surrounding ridges, with moderate difficulty.

Located just an 1 hour & 15 mins drive from Philadelphia.

Although mostly moderate, there are some fairly steep sections on the initial climb that may be difficult for some hikers. The trail will be very rocky, so good footwear is recommended.

GEAR:

• HEAD LAMPS/FLASHLIGHTS ARE ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY!
• Hiking boots. Something firm enough so you're feet don't get sore but light enough as to make small rock scrambling easier.
• Water
• Appropriate clothing for temperature and precipitation

PARKING

• We will gather in the parking lot marked on Google Maps and other GPS devices as Pinnacle Trail Head, AT Access.
• Free parking - but do not leave any valuables in your car!
• Cell phone reception is spotty here so I suggest mapping out the drive BEFORE the day of the hike if this is your first time.

A quick paced 6.mile hike on the green blazed trail in French creek starting at the hopewell lake boat launch. Flat but rocky in places .

.this hike will start and end in the dark so a light is required.

What a better way to start the Christmas holidays than hiking and parting at Flicks! Prize for the ugliest sweater. You can attend just the hike, the party or both.

This HILLY 7-mile hike, with a 5-mile option for casual hikers, will meander through the former Three Little Bakers golf course and Carousel Park. The paths are a mix of pavement, stone and some short hiking trails. We hike through an equestrian cross country course, one of a kind bark park, view magnificent horses roaming the meadows, a lake with numerous swans and geese - yes, you will step in some! We might catch a view of beavers in the duck pond or a ghost in the Zombie farm house that has a notable history with alcohol prohibition in Delaware. Trail shoes should be sufficient, hiking boots and poles not necessary.
The 5 mile option hikers can rest at picnic tables enjoying the serenity of swans and geese gliding peacefully on the lake while the group hits the steeper hills.

After the hike we continue the fun at Flicks, a speakeasy complete with bar, sound system, jacuzzi and dance room with options for karaoke and firepit.

NO FIRST TIMERS, this is a private residence. You must have hiked with us before.
NO SHOWS, only excuse for a NO SHOW is for a funeral, your own!
2:00 PM HIKE START, we wait for no one! Drop items off early. We will not respond to calls, texts, emails, or Meetup once we start hiking. Plan accordingly.
HIKING GEAR, Trail shoes should be sufficient, hiking boots and poles not necessary.
RESTROOMS are available in several locations.
HILLS, this hike has lots of them!
POTLUCK, bring a dish and/or beverage to share. Post want you are bringing in comments so we cut down on duplications. Items can be dropped off ahead of the hike at 4920 N Raintree Ct, Wilmington.
NO hiking shoes in the house, bring your dancing shoes or wear socks.
HOT TUB, anyone wanting to soak, bring suit and towel.
PARKING will be at D-Fit, formerly Delaware Swim Club. Please carpool if possible or arrange to meet with others at Limestone Shopping Center parking lot to share a ride in. Shopping Center is half-mile from D-Fit. We don't want 30 cars in D-Fit. Park next to sidewalk in D-Fit parking lot and short walk on sidewalk before carefully crossing Mermaid Blvd to 4920 N Raintree Ct where we gather prior to the hike. INCLEMENT WEATHER. Rain or snow may cancel the hike which just makes a bigger party! Check Meetup for weather update day of event.
DOGS are welcome on the hike but unfortunately not in Flicks.
