See all- Bells Rapids, Pilgrims Trail, Mount Mambup loop with optional falls (11-12km)Bells Rapids Park, Upper Swan
This is an interesting walk that is a little more challenging than our normal walk through Bells. It takes us along the Swan/Avon following the easy Pilgrim's Track until we just enter Walyunga National Park but from there we head uphill experiencing 2 steep rutted climbs that will guarantee to test your stamina. They will put a smile on your face. 😊 Ending out at the top of Mt. Mambup we experience stunning views of the Avon Valley. We traverse along the ridge heading south and then slowly descend into the Avon Valley again looping back to Bells Rapids. This picturesque walk has reasonable forest cover which opens up along the ridge. Plenty of birds and wild flowers in season.
If there has been rain we might also walk up the Bells Rapids Park Falls to see these waters cascade over the top which will add an extra 1km to our hike.
There are no National Park fees coming from this direction.
Afterwards lets go for a coffee and a chat.
Where: Upper carpark RHS past the toilet block. (Click on the map for the exact starting point)
Distance: 11km, elevation gain 351m. The hike should take us about 2.5 to 3 hours at a comfortable pace. Optional Falls add an extra 1Km.
Difficulty: An easy track at first but then it does involve a decent hill. Note: Please don't come if you can't do the distance & hill, you will make it difficult for all of us.
What to bring: Water, good hiking shoes, poles, hat & sunscreen. (A rain jacket or umbrella for inclement weather.)
Toilets: At the beginning/end.
Coffee: Shalom Ladies Boutique Café - I love this place, let's support it. They do a great coffee and serve homemade, yummy food. It is nice to wander through their op-shop afterwards. A short drive away @ 754 Great Northern Hwy, Herne Hill WA 6056. Link here: Shalom Ladies Boutique Café

NOTE: this is not the regular starting point.
This is a walk through King's Park with a difference using tracks less traveled. We have selected a route that loops around the outer boarder of the park and then the inner part of the park but as far away from the roads as possible. We are trying to experience a sense of our native bushland and yet be close to the city. I have even managed to find one of my famous 'goat tracks'. 😊
Coffee and relax afterwards for those who can stay.
Where
Carpark near Koorak Café, King's Park. (Click on map for the exact GPS meeting point)
Difficulty
Mainly compacted dirt tracks with a few bitumen paths. No hills of any significance. Expect an easy walk but given the distance you should be walking fit and able to handle 14km at a reasonable pace (5.5 to 6 km/h). We should complete the walk in under 3 hours
What to bring
Water, good walking shoes, hat & sunscreen, (umbrella or spray jacket if the rain gods are angry).
Café after the walk
Stay back and share a chat, coffee and bite to eat at the Koorak Café after the walk.
