What we’re about

Overview
We welcome writers in any genre and level, from aspiring beginners to experienced, published writers. Connect with others seeking support, encouragement, and the motivation to write.

If you have questions, please contact library liaison Paul Sevilla at [email protected].

What kind of writer are you?
Have you dreamed of writing your first book, short story, or poem? Are you a published writer seeking support and encouragement? Are you struggling to find the motivation to write? You are not alone. Join an established group that has been meeting since March 2017.

Write. Share. Make connections. Obtain advice.

Note: This group is for people eighteen years and older.

What does it cost?
Free.

Where do the meetups take place?
The Livermore Public Library (Civic Center main branch) and on Zoom.

When do the meetups take place?
The first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

What are the group goals?

  • To be a safe and encouraging writers’ group, open to all genres and all levels—even those who have never journaled or written a short story or poem, or shared what they have written.
  • To improve our writing craft (for example, plot structure, dialogue, character development) through guided discussion of selected books. (Although the selected book is not the last word, we strive to collectively choose solid texts. You do not need to read the selected book, but doing so is encouraged, as you will learn more.)
  • We sometimes schedule time at the end of the meeting to provide feedback on submitted manuscripts. For more information, see the individual meetup event.
