What we’re about
"Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."-Dante.
"....But don't abandon your sense of humor."-G'o'D
And yes, this is "epicurs" not "epicures". Epicures are sort of well heeled and esthete. Curs are lowly mongrels. I view epicurs as mongrels with taste....So this is a group interested in consuming the best of what life and this area have to offer. There will be cooking / fine dining events sometimes ethnically themed or often fusing all cultural styles. These events may offer cinema connected to the dining events (i.e. Mexican food and "Like Water for Chocolate"). Organic whole plant based food will dominate, but meat (especially seafood) will not be excluded. In addition, trivia meetups will occur. Name tags occasionally will be present with Myers Briggs identifications in order to facilitate ease of communication between different archetypes. The politics will skew towards irreverent libertines, so conservatives should have thick skins and possess tolerance. And alcohol will often be the social lubricant at all these events. My resident beer kegerators will be freely flowing at all events at my residence with some sort of local craft brew. I will occasionally screen some cinema in the home theater of world/indie/critically praised films. "Cards Against Humanity" will often get played, because gosh darn I really like that game. This is the gateway group, so get to know us to progress to the next tier where you will be eligible for events that require a reliable attendance history. A current profile photo of you is required so we can identify you at public locations (no pets or scenery). It must be a clear, relatively close-up face picture. No dark sunglasses or anything else that makes it difficult to see your face. No exceptions; you will be declined. I figure if you can't follow this instruction, you probably won't be reliable for events anyway. Guests will not be allowed for many events, so that we can see exactly who to expect at the event. Make your guest join the group if they want to come. For we are not looking for quantity of members, just quality. In addition, you should not be child phobic. When the event is appropriate, children may be present (in particular my 9 year old twin girls). AND ABOVE ALL, YOU SHOULD HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR. Much sarcasm and pitch black humor will be exchanged.
PS: If meetup sends you something indicating we want money to defer cost of membership, it is not from us. We won't ask for money, until we directly ask for money for an event that was listed as costing money.
