De qué se trata
Purpose*:* to encourage one another's interests in creative writing and english language literature, through shared readings and exchanges of ideas and experiences in a relaxed environment. The result is stimulating conversation centred on our various experiences.
Venue: we will meet in the reading room next to the cafeteria on the 1st Floor of the Soho Boutique Hotel Santander / Real Club de Regatas, Plaza de Pombo 1A, 39004 Santander (tel. 842 840 804). Who should join the group*:* anyone with an interest in english language literature, creative writing including fiction, memoirs, journalism, poetry and historical novels, or both. We share our experiences, writing advice, and authors that we admire. If you have already put pen to paper, or have an urge to do so and have ideas or writings that you would like to explore or share, then we are here to welcome you. Finally, if you are already a published author and are willing to share your experiences with us, then please come along!!!
What we will do at each get-together:
- Each of us says something about ourselves, our background, our writing interests (poetry, short stories, novels, other), our writing and reading experiences.
- You will join us in talking about favourite authors, why you enjoy their writing, and so on. You can also share a writing sample from the author (suggested limit: 500 words / 1 page).
- You can discuss / share your ongoing or past writing and writing challenges (suggested writing limit: 1000 words / 2 pages).
- You can suggest a dramatic introductory paragraph (suggested limit: 250 words / half-page) to provide ideas for e.g. a short story.
- We discuss general ideas on creative writing techniques, recommend books on creative writing, how to get published, etc.
- We engage in general group discussions and get to know one another.
- We also have a WhatsApp group site that anyone who has attended our meetings is free to join, where we share information and exchange ideas.
