Hoya o Hueco de San Blás - MODERATE / MEDIUM hike ideal for Autumn

On Sunday 1st we are doing our first ever hike to La Hoya o Hueco de San Blas.

Loop route specially designed for this time of intense Autumn color in which to enjoy the Hoya de San Blas (also known as Hueco de San Blas).

A hike suitable for everyone in which we walk through the Hoya de San Blas, a valley in honor of the nature-loving saint Blas de Sebaste and located between the imposing peaks of Cuerda Larga and La Pedriza.

On our way we will enjoy beautiful views of these peaks, the historic hermitages of San Blas and Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the majestic Palancares Reservoir and the waters of the Arroyo Mediano, as well as a forest made up of Scots pine, black pine and the robust oaks of this valley.

• DIFFICULTY RATE: Moderate to Medium.

The hike in general terms is medium due to the distance (18-20 kms) and the duration (6-7h). However, regarding the elevation it doesn't have specially steep stretches, it goes on a gradual uphill/downhill all the time. But still we will be walking a 400m incline on the way there and the same on the way downhill.

🕑 We are MEETING at 10:15h at Soto del Real (just next to the bus stop 11969 at Avda. Víctimas del Terrorismo with Calle Navalafuente - Parada 11969)

🚌 BY BUS - Take the 725 bus from Plaza de Castilla Intercambiador at 9:30 am. (Isla 2, Nivel -3, Dársena 26). Please double check the platform at arrival. The bus leaves promptly at 9:30, so please plan to arrive a little earlier before the bus departure (9:15-9:20 will be fine) to secure a place in the bus. Also allow yourself some extra time as metro and buses run less frequently on weekends than on weekdays. Get off the bus at the first bus stop in Bustarviejo. We will be already waiting for you there.

The price of a one-way ticket is 4.20€, please bring change of 5 or 10€ for the driver. Also if you happen to have an Abono Joven, good news for you: the trip is included in it and therefore free for you showing the Abono! :)

➡ WHAT TO BRING:

• Hiking shoes or mountain boots. Trail running sneakers are ok as well.
• A small backpack for your stuff.
• 1L of water or other soft drinks per person. PLEASE DON´T BRING LESS.
• Your lunch.
• Sunscreen & sunglasses.
• A hat or a cap.
• A fleece or warm sweatshirt as it will get chilly in the evening.
• A light windproof jacket if you have one it is recommended.
• And bring yourself ready to enjoy a wonderful and fun hike with like-minded people! :)

We expect to be back at Plaza de Castilla around 18:00h. However, bear in mind that the expected time is approximated since hiking depends on the group's pace and any other circumstances that might arise along the hike.
