**Session Abstract -**
This session will focus on demonstrating key features of Semantic Link Labs, a python library for Microsoft Fabric notebooks. Semantic Link Labs can significantly boost productivity and automation processes for your company, letting humans focus on higher-level tasks which truly require a human while machines do the rest.

**Biography**
Michael Kovalsky is a Principal Program Manager on the Fabric CAT team at Microsoft where he advises enterprise customers with regard to semantic modeling, DAX and performance optimization, Dev Ops automation processes and Semantic Link. He is the primary author of the Semantic Link Labs library for Fabric notebooks and various other tools built for the Power BI and Fabric community including the Report Analyzer and the best practice rules for Tabular Editor’s Best Practice Analyzer.

Optimizing and automating Fabric scenarios with Semantic Link Labs

With the announcement of Real-Time Dashboards in org apps, we can now publish apps in Fabric containing even more content. This enables the developers to publish reports in apps with Real-Time dashboards, Notebooks, Power BI reports and Power BI Paginated reports. This session is the first of its kind and will give you all the news announced at FabCon Stockholm.

We will start with a short introduction to the Real-Time Dashboard, the comparison with Power BI, and how to build the dashboard from the ground up. Stepping into the marriage of organizational apps and ending up with a fully working app containing both Power BI reports and Real-Time dashboards.

This session starts at level 100 and ends at level 200 and is for you who want to learn the new functions in the organizational apps in Fabric and how to leverage the new possibilities.

**TENTATIVE AGENDA (subject to change, all times listed are in Pacific Time):**

**REGISTRATION:**
This meet-up will be hosted on Microsoft Teams and will be recorded for those who cannot attend live. To access the Teams Meeting link, you must RSVP for the event.

**JOINING THE EVENT:**
Attendees can join the Teams Meeting starting at 7:45 am PST on the day of the event. The link will be visible only if you RSVP beforehand.

The event will begin at 8:00 am PST. Please ensure you are on mute to minimize background noise and distractions.

During the presentation, type your questions and comments into the chat area, which will be monitored by the event hosts. There will be a Q&A session at the end, where you can unmute your mic and share your video to ask questions.

**Title:**
Dynamic Formatting in Power BI using dynamic format strings and conditional formatting

**Abstract:**
In general formatting of visuals in a Power BI report are fixed for the end user. How can we give end users more flexibility to format the visuals for their requirements?
In this presentation, we look at making use of dynamic format strings and conditional formatting in Power BI, to allow dynamic formatting of visuals. We begin with an overview of the basic concepts of dynamic format strings, which allow for the customisation of displayed data based on context and user interactions. Attendees will learn how to apply these strings to enhance the readability of data visuals.
Moving onto the intricacies of conditional formatting and demonstrating how to use rules and expressions to highlight data points within visuals. We also demo combining dynamic format strings with conditional formatting to give end users significant flexibility in what to display in visuals.
By the end of this presentation, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of how to leverage these features to transform their Power BI reports into dynamic, insightful, and visually appealing tools for data analysis.

As usual, we'll start at 1900 on Teams, enjoy the session, and finish off with some news from the world of Power BI and Fabric.
