PLEASE TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO READ THE DETAILS SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO BRING AND WHAT TO EXPECT.

The walk will set off from the King William pub at 11.00 a.m and head out across country towards the part of the Ridgeway known as Grim's Ditch. This is an ancient earthwork which runs from Mongewell near Wallingford to Nuffield on the western edge of the Chiltern hills.

We follow this shaded woodland path for a few kilometres on the ascent until it opens out onto fields and farmland at the top, where we should enjoy some beautiful views over the south Oxfordshire countryside.

There will be a sit down break in Nuffield churchyard halfway round so you may wish to pack a picnic lunch as well as enough water to keep you going for the duration of the hike.

The terrain is undulating and likely to be muddy in places so suitable hiking boots are essential for your comfort and safety. No trainers or fashion boots please as these are inappropriate for Winter conditions.

We walk at a moderate to brisk pace so a reasonable level of fitness is required in order to keep up.

The King William is a pretty country inn with plenty of outside seating and a fabulous outlook so some of you may prefer to eat there or just enjoy a drink at the end of the walk. Being a Sunday the place is likely to be busy so it may be advisable to book in advance, 01491 681845.

I would expect us to complete the walk within approximately 3 hours at a moderate pace.

As it's my birthday the day before, There will be cake! :-)
