What we’re about

## We are happy to announce our group has been selected to be sponsored by the WordPress Foundation!

Exciting news!
Our group has been selected to be a sponsored WordPress Meetup Group!
Does this mean that we will only be discussing WordPress?
Not at all, the WordPress community has always encouraged us to pay attention aspects of web publishing that go beyond the CMS itself and to developments and trends that are going on with other systems.
Will WordPress dictate how we conduct our meetings?
WordPress has guidance policies on how we conduct the meetup which reflect the spirit of the Open Source movement, and which we have been following already. These policies are:

  • The group must include WordPress users
  • The group cannot discriminate on the basis of economic or social status, race, color, ethnic origin, national origin, creed, religion, political belief, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, or disability
  • The group cannot use hate speech or be involved in inciting violence
  • The group cannot be involved in spamming or other dishonest marketing pursuits
  • No jerky behavior

Will this change in status help us with future do_action events?
Absolutely! Being an official WordPress meetup group will help us solicit support from donors and augment the help that we are already receiving from the WordPress community.

How can I get involved?
WordPress will become the official "organizer" for this meetup, and I (Jeff McNear) will be named as a co-organizer. We encourage anyone who is interested in becoming another co-organizer, speaker, or do_action participant to contribute in anyway!

Why has the name of the group changed?
This is a courtesy that the WordPress Foundation has asked for - a very small accommodation for their support and generosity
