Marcy-Gray-Skylight-Marcy winter day hike - 20 miles, 5700ft gain

This is out/back version of tri-peak loop with longer distance and more elevation gain.

Only STRONG hikers should consider this. However, you are welcome to join for shorter out/back to Marcy/Skylight...let me know ahead.

Winter mountaineering/snowshoe experience is highly recommended. You NEED turn on your meetup messaging and check this event page often for any updates. Feel free to post here or DM your gear pack list and weight, previous winter experiences.

IF you consider the winter white mountain Presidential traverse meetup event, you def should attempt this first.

WINTER TRACTION devices REQUIRED - macro-spikes and mountaineering snowshoes ! Light ice axe helpful (one section near top of Gray Peak)

Pack extra food/water, warm clothing, headlamp with extra batteries. Load GPS route (map & compass etc) and know how to use it.

Meet: 4:00 am at South Meadow Trailhead (44.19353781661684, -73.95544350533093)

Hike: starts at 4:10 am or earlier. We will be on Van Hoevenberg trail most of the time. Will try to stay as a group when possible. You should be able to navigate the trail on your own when necessary. No one would have to wait for slower hikers. Most of time we will be moving to keep warm. THERE IS NO SWEEP.
