Okehampton Circular Walk - 6.5miles

Hi all,

This will be a circular walk from Okehampton train station, up onto the edge of Dartmoor, then back into the town for a drink.

We will meet at Okehampton train station at around 11.30. (Trains arrive from Exeter St. Davids at 11.17am). We will then walk up the hill to Dartmoor and Rowtor. (See the picture). We will stop here for lunch so please bring a packed lunch, something to drink and something warm to wear.

Suitably refreshed, we will walk back across a short section of Moor to the train station. There is then the option to take the train home or continue with me to the town for a drink and cake at one of the local cafes. Trains back to Exeter are at 16:25, 17:25, 18:30....

Please come suitably attired for a days walking, including:

• Comfortable walking shoes or boots
• Waterproofs
• Warm jumper
• Hat and gloves
• Rucksack.
• Lunch and a drink

The walk will take around 4 hours. Please come prepared for the famous Dartmoor boggy ground and changeable weather...well it is a moor after all! That said, you can have some idyllic sunny days and the views from Rowtor on a clear day are stunning. Either way, it will be a chance to step into this beautiful national park for a day.

I will meet everyone at the station rather than arriving on the train. Hope to see some of you there!
