What we’re about
On the surface we appear to be a hiking/backpacking group. We aren’t. We are a friend group that often hikes and backpacks as a way to spend time with each other.

See all- Nov 29-Dec 3 2024 | 3 Sisters Loop HikeNeeds location
We were in the 3 sisters area right after Thanksgiving 2023 and we realized as there was little to no snow on the ground we could have done the 3 sisters loop hike. So that is our plan for 2024.
The full loop is 48 miles and about 7,300 feet of elevation gain. So we will average about 12 miles and 1,800 feet of elevation gain per day.
Based on this weekend, lows will be in the high 20's.
We organize on Facebook/Facebook messenger, so you do not need to use Facebook, but you must be able to use Messenger. When you join a chat for an event, you will understand why.
Rules and expectations you should know:
- Liability Waiver - Before you RSVP to an event you must have signed our liability waiver at least once
- What are we here for?
- Events Refund Policy
- RSVP Courtesy - by attending a day hike you certify you agree with it
- Backpacking Trek Expectations - by attending a backpack you certify you agree with them
- Day Hike Expectations - by attending you certify you agree with them
- Most events are organized via Facebook Messenger. We don't care if you use Facebook but for most trips (including all overnight trips) you need Messenger to participate. If there is a Messenger chat for a trip, being added to the Messenger chat is the actual go list.
- Many of our trips use a waitlist. Please add yourself to it. Here are the best way to get to the go list!
Please sign the liability waiver above, if you haven’t already.
(It must be signed before you RSVP. You will not have the opportunity to sign at a trail head and we do not have paper copies. If you signed the liability waiver for a past event with this group, you don’t need to sign it again. Not participating with the waiver is grounds to be removed from the group.) - Dec 18~31 2024 "O" Circuit of Torres del Paine (Patagonia) BackpackNeeds location
Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and the eighth wonder of the world in 2013, Torres del Paine National Park is undoubtedly a world-class tourist attraction that delights for so many reasons that it becomes difficult to put it into words. You'll find exceptional geography of majestic massifs, turquoise lakes, icebergs, rivers, lenga forests and extensive pampas visited by guanacos, ñandúes and pumas. Camping spots are limited in the park and you are not allowed to dispersed camp in the park.
Out of sheer luck, I was able to book camping sites for 3 people to do this classic trek in 8 days, and I was even able to get spots at the Chileno campground where you are only 5k away from the scene in above picture: the Towers of Torres del Paine.Rules and expectations you should know:

This is a training weekend to prepare for the Idaho Ski Trip in January. We'll be staying at a cabin in Rhododendron right next to the rushing Sandy River. We'll ski/snowshoe near Government Camp during the days and enjoy each other's company next to the cozy fireplace at night.
As usual we will work out all the exact details in the event chat.
