MY FAVOURITE CAKE - with English subtitles and drinks

My Favourite Cake is the latest film from Iranian filmmakers Maryam Moghaddam and Behtash Sanaeeha (Ballad of a White Cow). It had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, where it was enthusiastically received by the press and won two awards. Unfortunately, the filmmakers were unable to attend the premiere, as the Iranian authorities denied them permission to travel. The Iranian regime considers the film controversial because it depicts a woman without the mandatory hijab and characters drinking alcohol.

► ABOUT THE MOVIE
When family and friends gather to bury the recently deceased Christine, they are informed by her notary that she wished to be laid to rest in Wettelen—a place her husband and children have never even heard of. Shocked but bound by her final wishes, they set off on a traditional funeral procession to the mysterious village, as Christine specified in her will. Along the way, the group slowly realizes that none of them truly knew who Christine was. Old rivalries soon resurface, and by the time they reach her final resting place, all family ties have been thoroughly shaken up.
