**Hoping to get one more hike in before the trails are snow covered!**

Let's walk back in time to the American Revolution. The Redoubts were a system of fortifications built to defend West Point & the Hudson River during the American Revolution. We will be hiking the South Trail where the Redoubt is clearly visible & there are panoramic views. There is also a large information panel at the Redoubt which details the history.

**HIKE DESCRIPTION: 11:30 to 1:30**
We pick up the trail at the North Redoubt Parking Lot located at:
332 Snake Hill Road, Garrison
(Note: You can put "North Redoubt Trail" in your GPS, sometimes the town comes up as Philipstown, which is the same as Garrison.)

We will be hiking the Red Trail (see map below), which is a 2.5 mile out & back trail rated as moderate due to the gradual incline to the top, not difficult with frequent breaks. The trail terrain is fairly easy to navigate, not many rocks, but a bit narrow in spots where we will walk single file. Please wear hiking shoes or sneakers with good tread. There's a picnic table at the top where we can sit for a bit & take in the views which are outstanding! Bring water/snacks. The hike will take approximately 2 hours since we'll be taking our time. Please note trail maintenance here is not the greatest. Expect to navigate around some downed trees and overgrown brush.

**MEET TIME:** 11:30 in the parking lot

**CARPOOLERS MEET TIME:** 11:00 at McDonalds Fishkill, Rte 9, Home Depot Plaza

**LUNCH:**
I'm not making formal lunch plans, but we'll see what the interest is and maybe go back to the Red Line Diner. They are very accomodating to large groups and happy to give separate checks.

**NOTE:** If you are only interested in the Hike, then state "Hike Only" in the comments so I can get an accurate headcount for lunch.
