We will meet in the Community Room of the Philomath Library. I invite you to bring a treasured object (or a picture of one) and a paragraph or two you about what this object means to you to share with the group. It can be anything!
After brief introductions, I'll give some background on Guided Autobiography, what it is (a practice, an exploration, a shared experience) and what it isn't (a course in how to write, therapy, a critique class.) I'll give an overview of the themes and the scope of assignments. I'll also discuss what is expected of members of a group (supportive non-judgment, confidentiality, showing up and being prepared to participate.)
After that, we'll have an old-fashioned show and tell. Get to know each other through a single object and story.
Finally, I'll offer a choice of themes for you to explore. You will choose one and write a page or two on that theme for the following week.
