Holiday Dinner @Berghoff's After Christkindlmarket on Black Friday (Part 2 of 2)

Details

Let's get into to the holiday season & do a traditional Christmas dinner at The Berghoff. It is a historic restaurant with famously authentic German food. It is an iconic landmark with an inviting atmosphere located in downtown Chicago. We have been here before, and everyone enjoys it. We will even catch the holiday décor! This has become a 1001 tradition now for the last few years on Black Friday so let's keep it going! However, this year slightly different as we will do Berghoff's instead of the Walnut Room. Walnut Room will be held on a different day. Berghoff's is a great spot and a must do for the holidays!

MAKE SURE TO ALLOW YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO FIND PARKING IF DRIVING AS IT MAY TAKE LONGER THAN USUAL SINCE BUSY SEASON WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC SINCE THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING. BEST TO USE SPOTHERO or PARKWHIZ FOR CHEAPER OPTIONS!

Part 2 of 2 - DINNER & DRINKS - only 4-6 people per table. I have FIVE reservations so this will have to be 5 small groups (6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 4 = 28 ppl). We might not be able to sit near each other. BRING CASH!

If you are joining us for drinks & bites, then PLEASE BRING CASH AS THEY CANNOT DO SEPARATE CHECKS FOR GROUPS. I kindly ask that everyone take what you ordered (the total dollar amount) & add 32% to that amount, which includes 12% for Chicago taxes and 20% for tip. It is much easier in large groups to split the bill with cash!

I am scheduling a walk around the 27th Annual Christkindlmarket BEFORE the Walnut Room Lunch as a separate event, to make it easier for all & & since numbers are limited. If you want to join for the dinner as well, please sign up for that here: https://4142298.xyz/exploring-chicago-with-friends/events/303790185/

The Berghoff is a rarity in America’s restaurant industry—100% family-owned and -operated for more than a century.

It began with an immigrant and a dream. The legacy can be traced back to 1870, when Herman Berghoff emigrated from Germany to America. After stints working on cotton and sugar cane plantations—and even time spent performing at Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show—Herman opened his own brewery in Indiana.

When the World’s Fair came to Chicago in 1893, Herman Berghoff set up a stand in the Midway Plaisance and sold his beers to people entering and exiting the fair. His success at the fair prompted him to consider a more permanent place to sell his beer in Chicago. Thus, The Berghoff opened its doors in 1898. Beers were sold for a nickel and they came with a side sandwich, free!

Holiday History
For many diners, the holidays and The Berghoff Restaurant go hand and hand. For some, it is finding the pickle in the Christmas tree; for others, it's ordering a specific dish they only get once a year, and for some, it's the simple fact that this is the place where they had eaten with loved ones since passed. Every year we look forward to hearing the stories and memories of our multi-generational diners, learning that we are a part of their family traditions, and our favorite---watching patrons create new memories.

Christmas décor is one of Jan Berghoff's favorite traditions at The Berghoff. From ornate Christmas trees to her German Christmas villages, Jan put her special touch on everything.

In keeping with Jan's festive eye and style, Berghoff Brand Manager, Colleen Silk, and her elves do their best to keep this favorite tradition going. With a 20 foot Christmas tree in the Century Room and Nutcrackers keeping watch, to oversized red ribbons hanging throughout, to the recently opened brew house lit with red and green light, each room is filled with the Holiday Spirit!
