Fabulous Futures: An interactive introduction to Futures Literacy

Details

Join the team at Futures Fit for a fun, creative community session on Futures.

In this interactive workshop, we'll prompt you to start thinking about "the future", what futures are possible, what possible futures might mean for us, and how to connect the possible futures of tomorrow to what we do in the present today.

Phew! There’s a whole lot of “futures” going on in this session!

### Who is this session for?

This community session is for anyone who has little or no experience with foresight and “futures thinking” and who want to start building their skills in futures literacy, or people with some knowledge of futures and foresight, and who want to give their imagination a stretch.

### What should you expect?

Here’s what we'll cover:

1/ What, why, how?
We’ll start with a quick overview of what futures and foresight are, why they matter, and the role of imagination in building futures literacy.

2/ Drivers and signals
Then we’ll explore how we can find out what’s happening today that is shaping the future of tomorrow, and where we can find signals of how the future of tomorrow might be more different that we might assume.

3/ What’s possible?
Finally, you’ll have a change to give your imagination a workout using a game-based approach to challenge assumptions what what can and can’t change in the future.

4/ Where to go next
We’ll wrap up with some thoughts about how building your futures literacy, and incorporating futures & foresight into your thinking can help you be part of shaping futures that are thriving, resilience, hopeful and thriving!

### What does it cost?

We want to make this workshop accessible to as many people as possible, because we believe that futures literacy is key to co-creating better futures. With that in mind, we're offering this free of charge for as long as we can sustain it.

### Location and requirements:

This workshop will take place online via Zoom and it is interactive and participatory. You will be using the chat feature, and working in groups on a shared whiteboard (Mural), so we recommend that you ensure that you have access to a computer, and that you can use your mic and video when working with others.

### Important:

This workshop will NOT be recorded: it is designed to be experienced live, or not at all.

### About the workshop leader:

This workshop is led by Suzanne Whitby, a futures thinker, facilitator, trainer, communicator, and storyteller committed to co-creating hopeful, sustainable futures. Suzanne is the founder of futures and foresight agency, Futures Fit and she runs the initiative, Facilitating Futures.
