Details

This is a meetup event for Advanced Competitive A/AB+ Wallyball. For this meetup a waitlist has been enacted which allows moderators to select the most appropriate attendees for this meetup.
A player must consistently exhibit the following game-play characteristics:

  • Ability to play as a team (minimize first and second hits over the net). We will analyze win/loss ratio when first or second hits are played.
  • Consistent (bump or pass, set and spike)
  • Ability to play balls hit off the walls
  • Ability to play positions
  • Consistent Competitive playing

New players will be allowed to join as a guest on a temporary basis if someone in this meetup's "Going" list OR one of the meetup Hosts / Organizers can vouch for you. Out of state Wallyballers with a high level of play can message the Hosts / Organizers for additional information.
We may also advance members from our Recreational Wallyball Meetup who meet the above criteria on a trial basis.
General Rules:

  • Teams of 2, 3 or 4 players per side. In 4-player game play, the server cannot attack the net (spike).
  • Serves are played from the back 3-feet of the player's side and must not touch the net. The serve can touch a single wall (not the opposing back wall or ceiling) prior to or after clearing the net.
  • Serves can be underhand or overhand.
  • No paintbrush serves (open palm with a swiping motion to spin the ball)
  • Serving team cannot block the opposing team's view of the server
  • The opposing team cannot attack a serve (feet cannot leave the ground) and in higher levels of play the person receiving the serve cannot set the ball on the serve.
  • Players cannot climb the walls to hit or block.
  • Players cannot come in contact with the net.
  • Each side gets three hits, typically (bump or pass, set and spike).
  • While the ball is being played on one side, the ball may hit any number of walls or ceiling, however, when sending the ball over the net the ball may only hit one wall (not the opposing back wall or ceiling).
  • Kicking the ball is not allowed.
  • A player may not make multiple contacts with the ball except when playing a hard driven spiked ball. If multiple contacts are made on a hard driven spiked ball and, if there is no finger action used during the effort and, if the ball is not held or thrown, then the multiple contact will count as a single contact. For the purposes of this rule, multiple contacts can come from a ball hit directly at a player or from a ball that is spiked off the wall.
  • If the ball contacts any two body parts simultaneously, a single contact of the ball will be called. The body parts involved in the multiple contacts must be the waist or any part of the body above the waist.
  • We will play Rally scoring to 21. If we are playing "King of the Court" we will play Rally scoring to 15.

You must RSVP and be confirmed (not waitlisted) prior to showing up.
If you are on the waitlist or have not RSVP'd but show up anyways, you do at your own risk as you may not get to play.
If you RSVP, but something comes up and you cannot attend, please do your best to change your attendance as soon as possible so that we can better accommodate players on the waitlist. If you RSVP but do not show up, you will be marked as a "No Show" and may be blocked from further meetups.
