Easy Walking Day along the Forth & Clyde Canal
Details
We are happy to announce another outdoor event, which is meant more as a walk than a hike. a lovely relaxed walk along the Canal 🥾 😊
📍We will meet up at Falkirk Grahamston Station and will take the train to Glasgow Queen Street and on toBowling
(if you plan to join us along the bus route please let me know)
What to expect:
Easily navigated flat route along the Canal.
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/glasgow/bowling-maryhill.shtml
please be noted that we will be taking the train at 8.46 from Falkirk Grahamston to Glasgow Queen Street (train ride about 45 minutes) and then from Queen Street to Bowling (train ride about 30 minutes) then walk to Maryhill, from where we'll be taking the bus back to Glasgow and from there the train. (once we reached Maryhill feel free to travel back in the group or on your own devices) ideally we will all get our tickets in Falkirk prior to boarding the train
Cheapest ticketversion would be a return ticket to Glasgow, one way to Bowling and single on the bus from Maryhill.
With the annual Meetup fees fast approaching we are always happy to get some donations from people who like the work we are doing. If you wish to support us and want to donate some money please ask Clarissa, Javad or me for bank details at any time. we're also happy with cash donations! thank you all ♥️
You are responsible for deciding if this event is suitable for you, coming adequately prepared and looking after yourself on the walk. If there's any questions about suitability, please contact the organiser.
The Falkirk Social Meetup Group recognises that hill walking, scrambling, and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
What you’ll need:
Trainers/walking shoes, waterprooves, some liquid, some packed snacks for our blood sugar and energy 😉
Terrain & Walking Stats:
A grade 1 walk on Walkhighlands, which I’d classify as fairly easy.
Terrain – Clear paths throughout
Distance: approx. 15.5 km
Time: 3.5-4 hours walking time
Ascent: 64m
Walked at a moderate pace as a group.
Last but not least – we make our decisions as a group, so if one person has to head back, we all do, please make sure that you do have the stamina and fitness to complete the whole walk!!!
RSVPs:
Yes – you intend to come and will turn up.
If you can’t make it, change your RSVP to NO to allow someone else to take your place.
We are looking forward to seeing you all 😊
Hopefully, there will be some new faces joining us as well as old acquaintances for a blast of exercise and great conversations. ⛰🥾
