What we’re about
We are a Buffalo-based non-profit bike touring organization looking to create introductory family bike trips! We have been running self-supported bike trips for teenagers for over 20 years, and over the past few years we have realized a need for family-focused bike rides and tours. Our goal is to create one night only bike rides in scenic destination in upstate New York, in order to introduce families to the concept of bikepacking. We will leave on Saturday afternoon, ride anywhere from 15-25 miles to camp, have a group meal and fire at camp, and bike home to arrive Sunday afternoon. We are selecting bike rides that are predominately on greenways and bike trails in order to avoid motor traffic and make the ride friendly to riders of all levels. The weekend bike trip will include group riding safety training, the opportunity to practice carrying your own gear, (or the option to use a sag-wagon), making stops to explore sights and attractions along the way, a communal camping and cooking experience, opportunity to learn about bike mechanics and logistics to bikepacking. We will provide lunch, dinner and breakfast in the trip cost. We will also have tents for rent, and a sag-wagon service for rent if you opt to have your gear transported for you. Our staff will supervise riding safety and will be available to assist with bike mechanical issues along the way. We want to make these rides as accessible as possible, so if any gear is needed- bicycles, saddlebags, helmets, camping and sleeping gear- let us know and we will help you source gear to borrow or for a low price. Please reach out with any questions!
