This month our public speaking course will focus on Leadership through each member giving a (possibly shortened version of) a historical speech. This should use appropriate gestures, body language and especially use of voice, with variation in pace, pitch and volume to provide the gravitas needed. You can choose your own historical speech whether it's from Benjamin Franklin, Winston Churchill, JFK or Greta Thunberg ;-) Come along and try it out - you'll be surprised :-)
Don't forget you can earn your Foundation Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your first season and your full ASC Certificate in Public Speaking by the end of your second season. You'll then become an Accomplished Speaker of the ASC (Association of Speakers Clubs) which is a CPD accredited certificate and can be shown to an employer to verify your speaking skills. Please come along and try us out - I guarantee you'll learn a lot about public speaking :-) Coming along as a guest is free and if you decide to join us it will cost £40 per year for 11 meetings with full membership of the ASC into the bargain :-)
Felixstowe Speakers is a fantastic place for beginners to overcome their fears and take their first step on the road to speaking confidently in public. It's also an opportunity for more experienced speakers to improve their skills. We also welcome people who have a specific goal in mind - acceptance speeches, wedding speeches, work based presentations, etc.
The focus is on learning by doing and receiving feedback from more experienced members in a supportive environment. Over the years we have developed some very effective and proficient public speakers and guests are very welcome to come along to see how we work.
