What we’re about
There are more hungry people in New York than there are people in San Francisco. But, 3 in 4 families facing a food emergency don't use the resources available. With thousands of food pantries in NYC, there's no reason not to.
The Lemontree Food Helpline connects New Yorkers in need to free food nearby. Every caller speaks to a real human being who will listen to their needs & provide a tailored set of recommendations.
Since launching less than a year ago, we've spoken to about 5,000 neighbors–but that's a tiny fraction of the 1.5 million New Yorkers facing hunger. We need your help reaching them all.
We run several Virtual Flyering events a week, where we get together on a Zoom and call local businesses! Join us at our next event, and you'll be connecting New Yorkers with free food. Read more here! https://www.inittogether.nyc/neighborhood-network
About us:
We're a small team (Austin, Kasumi, and Alex) known as Lemontree Foods, a 501c(3) non-profit. Before COVID-19, we sold low-cost, healthy, chef-designed meal kits to families across Brooklyn; then, we mobilized thousands of volunteers through In It Together NYC. Now we're dedicating our time to the Lemontree Food Helpline, which connects callers in NYC to free food.
