What we’re about

BEGINNER LEVEL
No experience required. LGBTQIA+ focused!

Looking to learn some cool hands-on skills, connect on cultural traditions, and open up to philosophies about conflict? Come learn Filipino Martial Arts!

People of any background or ethnicity may attend. :)

This is an entry-level group, organized by a Queer, mixed Canadian of the Filipino diaspora.

What are Filipino Martial Arts (FMA)?
Popularly, FMA has broadly been depicted with people wielding rattan sticks, or a knife in blindingly fast combat. However, it is much more than a martial art and all that implies. It can, and has been used for familial bonding, spiritual and cultural connection, promoting self-discipline, and philosophical teaching.

What can I expect?
The aim is to bring a holistic approach to this subject while learning physical techniques - to make you stronger physically and mentally.

The focus will be on athleticism, learning strikes, and working with partners while at the same time welcoming people to ask, "why?" to the techniques used.

This is not a formal class. There are no belts or grades.
