We're finishing our discussion of one of the classics of the Financial Independence (FI) movement. "Your Money or Your Life" by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez was first published in 1992, but it still stands the test of time!
This book has been considered the go-to book for taking back your life by changing your relationship with money. It helps explain the "WHY" behind Financial Independence.
** NOTE: This month we're meeting ONLINE because the library meeting room was not available. In the future we hope to meet in-person as much as possible. **
WHAT TO READ
Be sure to read the revised 2018 edition of the book, as it includes updates that make the advice more relevant to a 21st-century audience.
We'll read only Chapters 4–8. Skip the last chapter because our next book will go into much more detail on this same subject.
If you missed our last meeting, you can still jump right in! Don't worry - we'll catch you up with the conversation.
SOME GENERAL RULES FOR THIS BOOK CLUB:
SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Personal finance can be a difficult subject for some people to discuss, so please be kind and courteous. We won’t tolerate hate speech, bullying, or degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity. We also want to respect everyone’s privacy. What happens at book club stays at book club!
BE INVOLVED
Nobody can force you to read the book we’ll be discussing, but we hope you’ll try. Not every book will connect with everyone, but hopefully, there will be at least one new idea you can take away. You’re also not expected to participate in the discussion, but everyone has unique opinions and life experiences – and we think yours are as valuable as anyone else’s!
NO-SHOWS
Please be considerate of others on the waiting list when an event is full. If you’ve signed up but can no longer attend, update your RSVP as soon as possible to allow others the opportunity to join. Members who are no-shows more than twice will be removed from the group.
