***We Meet in the parking lot at Stanly Lane Smoke House at 9;30 am. 3100 Golden Gate Dr. Napa. From hwy 29 go left on (Sonoma Hwy Rt 12) ) Turn right at the stoplight Stanly Lane. Park against the bushes. We will carpool from here.
*** Put on your best walking shoes & a jacket & plan for an unusual, fun, educational & unique day in Napa & Sonoma Valleys. I can't help it if you
like this experience a lot. Ha, Ha !
1. Our first destination is in Glen Ellen at the Sonoma Botanical gardens. (Formerly, Quarry Hill Asian Gardens) 12841 Sonoma Hwy (12) in Glen Ellen. This is where East meets west and is a Nonprofit working to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the beauty and value of Asian & California native plants & to promote their conservation in natural habitats and gardens. NOTE: Lots of hidden walkways & trails, hidden waterfalls & lush gardens & ponds , seasonal flowers & unusual trees all arranged around a old quarry lake on over 45 acres.
**We will have our creek side vineyards , wine picnic lunch here after our garden walk tour. **Please bring a lunch . I'll have 10 varietals of personal wine choices & cheese & other snacks & drinks.
2. Now we will head back to the DiRosa Contemporary Art Preserve & Conservatory for our self guided & Docent led tour of the inside & outside art & sculpture creations. This is a cool & very funky place for unique contemporary art and unique creations. WE will also be lake side of hidden "Winery Lake'". A Tram will transport us from the entrance gallery to the main gallery & gardens. A large lake with a beautiful palm tree filed island in the middle. The outdoor nature & art gardens will give many photo opportunities. NOTE: Most people don"t even know this place exists.
3. If you still have some energy left we will go on to the "Cornerstone " Art gardens in Sonoma . Outdoor contemporary & nature art & sculpture ; plus wineries, & unique shops to visit. This is also part of the Sunset Gardens aka: Sunset magazine. Much interpretive art & sculpture & Nature creations to see.
4. Our last optional location(Time permitting) to visit will be 1-2 historic wineries & their gardens & more. Close by to stop in for a visit . ***Can you do all this in one day ?
