"Corpo Vegetal" by Giulia Yoshimura
Details
On several occasions Giulia connected her interest in the botanical world with her childhood. Years later, this interest would turn into a broad universe where research and artistic practice meet through a dialoguing body of work. In her first solo exhibition - Corpo Vegetal - we walk through the memories of the artist's childhood walls, arriving at the murals that color the streets of Porto.
The exhibition Corpo Vegetal, by Giulia Yoshimura, presents a set of works made as part of artist's Master's Degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Painting, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto; thus corresponding to a first public moment where her research and artistic practice dialogue spatially. Giulia Yoshimura aka MURA, originally from São Paulo - Brazil, lives and working in Portugal since 2021.
This exhibition, which connects a path and at the same time seems to close a cycle for the artist, meet us as an invitation to the senses, celebrating curiosity, challenging our ability to approach and empathize with the territories and species that surround us, and to life itself.
