What we’re about

Interested in playing soccer around Fair Lawn? We welcome any and all soccer players, regardless of level. Women are welcome as well!

Here are our rules:

  1. NO SLIDE TACKLING. This is absolutely not allowed. We don't want anyone getting hurt over a game of pick-up soccer.
  2. NO FIGHTING. We're all just trying to have fun. If you get into a serious argument or fight on the field, you probably won't be invited back.
  3. PLAY WITH GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. We would take a less skilled player who plays with respect over a highly skilled player who does not.

Here is how we run our game:

We are a club. We are a group of people who come together and pitch in so that we can all enjoy soccer together. As such, we expect people to contribute. More details below.

1. Those who continually RSVP that they are attending, but then fail to show up or update their status too late for others to react, will be removed from the group.
2. We will provide pinnies. We often ask for a volunteer each week to run them through the wash.
3. Be sure to wear turf shoes or cleats. But when we play indoors, long studs (cleats) are not allowed -- only turf shoes (short rubbery nubs) or soccer shoes (flat on the bottom) are allowed.
4. Based on the number, we will play either 5v5, 7v7 small-sided soccer, or 11v11 using big goals. We limit the number of people each week, in an effort to get everyone more involved in the game.
5. We will try to use real goals with nets (as opposed to a couple of cones, say) whenever possible.
6. We periodically collect a small fee from each player, to offset the costs from meetup.com, to secure a field, and to purchase equipment such as pinnies, goals, and the like.
7. From time to time, we schedule friendly matches against other nearby soccer clubs. (That's where the picture of us in our Fair Lawn FC jerseys was taken.) We all wear our team uniform, and it's a lot of fun! Anyone playing for us in such matches must purchase one of our jerseys in order to play.

Please remember our main goals for this group are to get some exercise, enjoy ourselves, and have fun playing "The Beautiful Game"!
