Van Fleet State Trail

Details

The General James A. Van Fleet State Trail is committed to providing a variety of accessible amenities to all visitors. Our amenities include:

  • 29.2 miles of paved surface trail
  • Pavilions at each of the four trail heads

The trail has a paved surface ideal for bicycling. It traverses through mostly natural areas, so there is ample opportunity to enjoy a brisk pace or go slow and view the wildlife.

  • Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water. The only potable water sources are at the Polk City, Green Pond and Mable trailheads.
  • Helmets are recommended for all cyclists. Florida law requires helmets for cyclists age 16 and younger.
  • Bring sunscreen and bug spray.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • When bicycling on a trail or dirt road shared with hikers or equestrians, be respectful of others. Learn more about our state park rules and trail etiquette.
  • Bicycles, including electric bicycles, may be used on trails designated for bicycle use with the park system, consistent with Section 316.20655, Florida Statutes.
  • All bicycles should operate in a safe manner.
