White Rock Lake Trash Pickup
Details
Fellowship of Freethought is partnering with the non-profit, For The Love of The Lake (FtLotL) to help clean up the shoreline & park areas around White Rock Lake.
This is the perfect opportunity to give back to the community in a spectacular outdoor setting.
Grabbers and trash bags will be provided, but we highly recommend bringing a pair of work or gardening gloves and shoes you can get muddy.
Please meet with FOF Staff in the parking lot at the baseball fields down the hill from Winfrey Point. At 9:20 we will head down to the shore together, so please be prompt.
Optional: When the event is over, we often will go to a local restaurant and enjoy a casual brunch together.
FAQ:
Q: Can my child participate?
A: Yes, the more the merrier! Children 12 & under should be carefully supervised by their adult. FtLotL requires all participants to sign a liability waiver.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Yes, we'd love to meet your friendly and polite pup! Be mindful of local leash laws. (You can only let your dog off-leash at the newly renovated 3-acre White Rock Lake Dog Park which is separate from the Winfrey Point area we will be in.)
From FtLotL's website:
"Our Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce Up tradition happens rain or shine, snow or heat without fail. We have been going strong without missing a Second Saturday since 1996! The premise is simple. Together, the East Dallas community transformed what was once a neglected and sometimes dangerous park into an urban oasis. This transformation is possible because volunteers collect litter in the park! Armed with trash bags, gloves, and a passion for East Dallas and its jewel White Rock Lake, this army of volunteers maintain and protect White Rock Lake Park for the enjoyment of all the residents of Dallas."
Every 2nd Saturday of the month until December 31, 2025
