What we’re about

PLEASE NOTE: This is a SOCCER Watch Party group - not American football.

Football Watch Party is a group of folks from all over the world that love the beautiful game (soccer), getting together roughly weekly in Ashburn and the local area for all things football! Most notably this is to watch English Premier League/F.A. Cup games, International Tournaments, and the UEFA Champions League Final.

We also like to watch Loudoun United with the Loudoun Stampede, the Official Fan Group for Loudoun United. If something else relevant to football is on we'll see who else wants in and make it happen! FYI, we're also on Facebook!

Banter is fun and expected but please be sure not to make personal jibes or insults beyond members' choice of team. We all love and celebrate this game together and came here to watch it with other like-minded folks, and scousers too. That's why this is here so now let's all meet up for the games and MAKE SOME NOISE!!!

FYI, this group has been around on Facebook since 2019 (which you're all welcome to join), so all events listed normally pull in 5 to 15 people from that group. Please don't think only 2 or 3 are coming if that is all we have on the Meetup group.

Well then, on paper up until a few weeks ago this game could have been described as a 6-pointer with a points swing that could really mix up the title potential come May. It's even bigger than that in may ways for Liverpool and Manchester City. If the reds pull off the win in this one, they will find themselves unbelievably 11-points clear of the Champions of the past four seasons!

Liverpool are currently 8-points ahead of second placed City having won 4 of their past five games with victories over Southampton, Aston Villa, Brighton, and Chelsea with the draw coming away at Arsenal. The value of attaining a double digit lead over City at this stage of the season cannot be understated.

City have been uncharacteristically awful in recent weeks having lost their last three league fixtures in a row, plus a Champions League loss and elimination from the EFL Cup. The loss streak did end on Tuesday night in the Champions League against Dutch side Feyenoord but the Cityzens blew a 3-0 lead in that game continuing their rot. An away trip to Liverpool is not exactly the ideal fixture they would want to return to winning ways but it cannot be understated how much it is imperative for City to win this game and close the gap to 5-points, still not great but losing is unfathomable.

This game will be the 227th competitive meeting between the two rivals. Liverpool having won 60 of them, City taking 58, and the remaining 108 ending all square. both fixtures between the two last season ended all square 1-1.
