Film Discussion: Black Christmas (1974)/Christmas Horror Movies

To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, let’s discuss horror films that take place around Christmas. The central movie of discussion will be Black Christmas (the 1974 version), but we can talk about Christmas-themed horror films, in general: Krampus; Silent Night, Deadly Night; Gremlins, other suggestions would be appreciated.

Cinemark and AMC will be screening Black Christmas a few times in December. It’s also currently available to stream on Prime Video.

Here’s a synopsis of Black Christmas: “As winter break begins, a group of sorority sisters, including Jess (Olivia Hussey) and the often inebriated Barb (Margot Kidder), begin to receive anonymous, lascivious phone calls. Initially, Barb eggs the caller on, but stops when he responds threateningly. Soon, Barb's friend Clare (Lynne Griffin) goes missing from the sorority house, and a local adolescent girl is murdered, leading the girls to suspect a serial killer is on the loose. But no one realizes just how near the culprit is.”
