Kaimana Beach Park to Keehi Lagoon - Waikiki Views! 7.6 Miles -
Aloha Paddlers, This is a paddle in the heart of Honolulu and will go from Kaimana Beach park to Keehi Lagoon, which is just over 7.5 miles, and may all be down-wind........ if we have our normal Trade wind conditions.
We’ll get some great views of Waikiki against the backdrop of the Koolau Mountains, some good surf spots along the way and we’ll check out the many islets that populate Keehi Lagoon as we paddle through it to Keehi Lagoon Beach Park. So, Here’s the plan……Meet at Kaimana Beach park near the Natatorium at 8:00 AM. PLEASE DON'T BE LATE! We’ll offload kayaks and leave at 8:20 to shuttle cars over to Keehi lagoon Park. This should allow us to put in from Kaimana at about 9:15 to 9:30 or so, and finish up at Keehi Lagoon Park at about 12:00 PM. Okay Gang, I hope to see you all on this paddle and hope that you all are getting a head start on your preparations for THANKSGIVING WHICH IS NEXT WEEK!
*==== CHANGED YOUR MIND? ====
Be sure to check the Meetup – Hua Iki web site for any changes and updates and to change your RSVP if you change your mind.
*==== KNOW YOUR LIMITS ====
Know your capabilities, limits, forecast conditions and check your equipment before you go. Sun Screen, hat and plenty of water are a must. Sun glasses, gloves and dry bag are a good idea. Remember to stay in sight of the group and TELL OTHERS IF YOU ARE LEAVING. You alone are responsible for your health and safety. Check conditions at http://www.surfnewsnetwork.com/ or call the National Weather service at 808-973-4380 (#2 to get wind speeds and #3 for surf report). Knowing the latest forecast, you can decide (based upon individual abilities) whether to paddle, or stay home and clean the yard.
*==== NEED TO RENT ====
The club does not own, rent, pick up or deliver kayaks to events. Check club site for possible ride and kayak sharing arrangements. If you need to rent a kayak, Call Bob first, and then check with Kailua Beach Adventures(KBA) and Go Bananas cause they both give our Meetup members a great discount off regular rental rates! MENTION YOU ARE JOINING THE CLUB TRIP. They also have car top pads, straps, dry bags, etc. Call KBA at 808-262-6555 and Go Bananas store on Kapahulu Ave. 808-737-9514 . You can also pick up your kayak the day before, after 3 pm so you can drive straight to the put-in the next day; but call ahead just to let them know you want the boat and they’ll be happy to accommodate your request.
*==== CONTACT ====
