What we’re about

We’re a supportive community of friends who happen to be writers offering advice, inspiration, and socialization through an array of events to help your writing evolve into a better expression of your art.

Founded in 2015, the Fort Wayne Writers Guild is a literary community devoted to creating an inspirational, safe space for writers to share their work, refine their craft, and spend quality time together. We pride ourselves on creating an environment that is a fun, supportive, and artistic exchange among friends. We welcome all types of writing—fiction, memoir, poetry, journalism, screenwriting, etc., and all types of writers, from absolute beginners to published veterans.

Our meetings cater to all kinds of writing activities and include the following events each month:

Writers Round Robin: Critique sessions meeting every other Wednesday evening at the Auer Center, where writers share works in progress for encouraging, constructive feedback.

Shut Up & Write: Free-writing sessions every third Thursday of the month at the Friendly Fox, where members can work on their individual projects side-by-side.

Weekend Writers: Online free-writing sessions every Saturday morning that are similar to Shut Up & Write, but with a more structured format.

COP a Story: Gatherings on the last Saturday afternoon of the Month at The Ruin, where members share stories based on Character, Object, and Place writing prompts for group discussion.

Pubs & Prose: A revival of Hemingway's "moveable feast" every second Tuesday evening of the month at J.K. O'Donnell's, where we gather simply to relax, socialize, and imbibe.
