water-link is a Belgian utility company that plays a vital role in providing safe, clean and reliable drinking water in Antwerp. Over the past decade, water-link replaced analog water meters with a digital version with the ability to send alarms, receive requests for automated operations and provide insightful IoT data. In partnership with delaware, they built a modern data platform powered by the Databricks Lakehouse paradigm and hosted on Azure.
At the core of the Lakehouse platform lies an automated rule engine that processes the incoming alarms and other daily metrics without any human interaction. As such, Databricks Lakehouse acts as the central component that notifies all involved parties to take swift action when a problem arises in the drinking water supply. In this session, we’ll give you more information about this groundbreaking solution.
water-link’s water landscape requires a smart, sustainable approach to ensure continued availability. The digital meter is already making a difference for their customers, employees, and how they collaborate with stakeholders and society in general. This truely makes them pioneers in Flanders.
In this session Maarten Herthoge will walk you through the various use cases realised and the key lessons learned on delivering value with IoT.

In this technical talk, we will explore how to harness the power of Azure AI, Azure AI Studio, Azure Search Services, and large language models to extract valuable decision-making data from the Azure SQL Database.

We will begin by discussing Azure AI and its capabilities. Starting with a clean slate, build a solution using Azure AI Studio and its user-friendly interface that can chat with an SQL database, helping make data-driven decisions without writing code. This solution will delve into Azure Search Services, highlighting how it can be used to efficiently index and query data.

The second part of the presentation will focus on utilizing large language models and Python notebooks to extract and analyze data from the Azure SQL Database. Attendees will learn how to set up their environment, connect to the database, and implement AI-driven solutions (talk to the database).

By the end of the session, participants will have a solid foundation in using Azure AI and Python for data-driven decision-making, empowering them to leverage these tools in their projects.

**Speaker Bio:**
Taiob Ali, Microsoft Data Platform MVP, is an accomplished technical leader with a proven record of success. During his last 17 years, he has worked with the Microsoft Data Platform and MongoDB on-premises and in the cloud. His experience includes all three major business sectors: finance, e-commerce, and healthcare.

Taiob works at "GMO LLC" as a database solutions manager, focusing on cloud migration, automation, and improving and streamlining operational workflow. He regularly speaks at local and international conferences, SQL Saturdays, and Azure conferences. You have implemented Database Projects and Azure DevOps for database development successfully in your organization and you want to make your life easier by automating your database deployments? If the answer is yes, this session is for you!

At the beginning of this session, we will do a quick recap of Database Projects and Azure DevOps. Just to make sure that we are all on the same page.

During the session, we will set up an example build and deploy pipeline. Since there are a couple of ways to deploy changes from Azure DevOps to your target database, We will discuss a couple of scenarios and I will show you which method I'm using.

\- 1 Pipeline to rule them all
\- multi\-step deployment

During this session, we will also cover the deployment pipeline differences between SQL Server and AzureSQL.

At the end of this session, you should have all you need to start with database deployment automation.

In the rapidly evolving field of cloud security encryption of data plays a key role in maintaining confidentiality and integrity. This is particularly crucial in scenarios involving sensitive data where the importance of encryption in rest and transit is even greater. As cloud technologies advance, the risk of data breaches is also increasing due to sophisticated threats. In the domain of encryption, the process of generating and managing the encryption keys is crucial. Traditional methods of encryption key generation cannot adapt to the dynamically changing security needs of cloud environments. This limitation poses a risk of vulnerabilities. This talk discussed AI-based approach to generate encryption based on contextual data such as the time of the day, user location, and network security levels. This method not only ensures that each key is uniquely generated to meet the security demands of individual sessions but also significantly reduces the risks associated with key reuse and predictions. By integrating AI into the key generation process the aim is to provide a more robust and adaptive security solution that responds intelligently to varying threat environments and user contexts.
