Welcome to the Frederick Hiking Group for people in their 20's and 30's!
Our group is perfect for those looking to explore the beautiful outdoors, get some exercise, and make new friends in Frederick, MD. We organize hikes of varying difficulty levels and distances, from easy nature walks to more challenging summit hikes.
Our members are in their 20's and 30's and come from diverse backgrounds, but we all share a love of nature and adventure. We welcome hikers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced hikers, and encourage everyone to challenge themselves and try new trails.
In addition to hiking, we also organize social events and other outdoor activities, such as kayaking, picnics, and post hike breweries and winery meetups. These events provide an opportunity to connect with other outdoor enthusiasts in a relaxed, fun setting.

We prioritize safety and environmental responsibility on our hikes and ask that all members follow Leave No Trace principles to minimize our impact on the environment.

Many of our events have waitlists on them and as a result if you are a no show at an event you may be automatically moved to the waitlist on the next event. Repeated no shows can result in expulsion from the group.

Celebrate 'day of the dozens' @Krispy Kreme on this 3.8mi easy walk that is paved & relatively flat. Pace: 3mph. The trek primarily parallels Ballenger creek, detouring through a neighborhood along the way. Latter of the circuit junctions with the Arundel branch then pauses at a verdant vista. Highlights include the "great garage door tour", a faint farmhouse, & an irritating electrical alley. Afterwards, socialize with a donut in hand!

2. Post- social/ happy hour @Mayta's (oppo. parking lot) - Hike: C&O towpath to MD's BIGGEST TREE (Dickerson)Dickerson Conservation Park, Dickerson, MD
This 1+mi easy hike is flat, but may have downed trees & debris when approaching the BIGGEST tree. The trek traverses a serene section of the C&O towpath, offering views of the Potomac River. Latter of the circuit visits a canal lock & a bonus 'Champion Tree'. A photogenetic frolic!

Celebrate 'Nat'l Take the Stairs day' exploring Washington Monument state park, home to the "first monument to our nations first president"; admission $2 (honor system). A brief, slightly uphill .25mi o/w walk leads to the monument. Take the stairs inside, that upon topping offer panoramic views to the East & West.

Feel like a fool celebrating the comical holiday on this 5mi easy hike. Pace: 2.5- 3mph. The trek frolics through meadows, ponds, & verdant viridian viewpoints while also hopping over seven streams. Some soft hills too. A local airport next door often has Cessna planes that encircle directly above! Funny fashion encouraged. | MAP

1. Entrance/ Turn- off to park appears suddenly. SLOW DOWN, it is easy to miss!
