Trail Highlights:

• High Ball: A scenic high point offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, giving a perfect introduction to the natural beauty of the Guildford area.
• St. Martha's Hill: This iconic hilltop is home to the charming St. Martha’s Church, which dates back to the 12th century. Nestled on the Pilgrims’ Way, it offers breathtaking views across the Surrey Hills and beyond.
• Newland's Corner: Newlands Corner is a breathtaking viewpoint in the Surrey Hills, offering panoramic views over the Surrey countryside. Known for its natural beauty and rich wildlife, it’s also part of the historic Pilgrims’ Way. This spot was famously linked to Agatha Christie’s brief disappearance in 1926, adding a touch of mystery to its charm.
• Pillbox: This WWII-era structure stands as a reminder of England’s defensive past. We’ll pause here to appreciate the history and take in the surrounding woodland.
• St. Catherine’s Lock: Part of the historic Wey Navigation, this lock and its picturesque surroundings tell the story of 17th-century trade and transportation along the River Wey.

Join us for a refreshing, calorie-burning New Year hike through the stunning South Downs from Amberley to Shoreham-by-Sea. We will start at 10:30am outside the Amberley Station and finish at Shoreham-by-Sea Station.

This approx. 16-mile (26 km) journey will feature incredible views, a bit of history, and a dash of mystery!

Highlights:

• Stunning South Downs Views: Expect picturesque landscapes, sweeping hills, and potentially a few friendly pig farms along the way.
• Historical Pitstop at Chanctonbury Ring: This Iron Age hill fort above Worthing, with its famous beech tree clump, has a long-standing reputation for paranormal mysteries. UFO hotspot or not, it’ll be a unique spot to take a breather and enjoy our lunch break.
• Beach Finish and Optional Dip: We’ll walk past the Shoreham-by-Sea, where you can dip your toes (or dive right in!) if you're feeling brave enough.
• Pub Finale: A well-earned drink at a local pub to celebrate our hike’s end and toast to new adventures.

This is approx., 21 km popular trail near Buckhurst Hill, Essex. We will meet outside Chingford Station at 10:30am. Those driving can park at E4 7QJ (free parking) but please meet at Chingford Station which is 7 mins away.

Epping Forest forms a direct green link between London and rural Essex and lends its name to a market town. Epping Forest has some ancient trees and English countryside at its best along the Essex Way. It is approx., 8000 acres of green space with ancient woodland, and other established habitats, which straddles the border between Greater London and Essex. It's a perfect place to be during summer with stunning wildlife.

The hike is expected to have hills and will be at a medium pace and is expected to finish by 6 pm or earlier and we can go to a pub near the station when we finish. Please make sure to wear hiking boots/shoes, a torch, carry at least 1 liter of water, and a packed lunch. The walk is completely free.

This is a circular hilly walk near Hassocks, West Sussex. A moderately challenging hike. We may be climbing a few steep hills. The hike may be approx., around 20 km.

Devils Dyke - A legendary beauty spot on the South Downs, just five miles north of Brighton, offers stunning panoramas, a record breaking valley, a curious history and England’s most colourful habitat. At nearly a mile long, the Dyke valley is the longest, deepest and widest 'dry valley' in the UK. The artist John Constable claimed that Devil's Dyke was one of the grandest views in the world. One of the myths on how this huge dyke formed was that the devil tried to flood the many churches of this area by digging a trench towards the sea. In doing so he woke an old woman who lit a candle to investigate. The devil abandoned the trench and fled. Legend also has it that the Devil dug this chasm to drown the parishioners of the Weald. On the other hand, scientists believe it was formed naturally just over 10,000 years ago in the last ice age. With a little exploring the Dyke's story starts to reveal itself: The ramparts or walls of the Iron Age hill fort can be seen when you walk around the hill and the remains of the curious Victorian funfair can be found just a few minutes from the car park. Venture into the valley in summer and you will discover a living carpet of flowers and a myriad of colourful insects.

The walk is completely free. You need good hiking shoes, a packed lunch, and a good spirit. Please get a torch just in case it gets dark in the afternoon. This can be a moderate to challenging walk.

Start and end at meeting point at Devils Dyke Car Park BN1 8YJ (this will bring you to Devil's Dyke Road but short of the pub and car park). Parking may cost £6 for whole day however, there is free parking on the way which may be a 15 mins walk to the meeting point. Bus 77 and 78 will take you to the Devil’s Dyke hotel / pub from Brighton Station (20 mins away) outside which is the meeting point.

Not all good places can be reached easily by public transport so if anyone really wants to join and needs a lift then message me and I will try to accommodate you in my car from 'Three Bridges Station'.

Lulworth Cove hike - 17 km approx

Carpool:

Please start early as it can take 3 hours if driving and give extra time for traffic. Please plan your journey in advance. Those planning to drive (and are definitely coming) can offer rides and share fuel costs but please be mindful and do not change your attendance at the last minute. I would be driving down as well and happy to pick up some and drop them back at Three Bridges Station however, please send me a message beforehand.

Train:
Plan your journey in advance. Train journey may take longer. The following route is just a suggestion. Depending on where you are traveling from, please plan your own journey but please ensure you reach the meeting point at 11:30 am sharp.

You can take train from Clapham Junction to Wool Station and then take a bus to Lulworth Cove (X50). However, please check your journey including bus timings beforehand. You can, of course, take a taxi and reach the meeting point but it may cost further.

Meeting Point - Lulworth Cove, Wareham BH20 5RQ at 11:30 am.

This is a scenic coastal path with amazing views of the geological features and out to sea on a clear day. There are some very steep hills and rough sections along this route requiring care and appropriate footwear. It is also advised to take plenty of water and food as there are no refreshments along the way. We may do couple of routes around this area which will be covering Durdle door.

The walk will be at a medium pace and is expected to finish a bit late in the day. You need to be fit enough for this hike. We will go to a pub/restaurant at the end of the walk after which we shall start our way back towards London.

Meeting time - 10:30am

Approximately 16 miles hike. It is going to be a wonderful hike around Lewes in the South Downs, including Mount Caburn , which offers incredible views. It is challenging with many hilly sections and passages from Kingston to Southease and towards Fire Beacon. The landscape surrounding was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. There are views along the whole route. The elevation gain is expected to be around 695 m. This is going to be a hilly hike and slightly fast paced.

This is an approx., 15 miles circular hike. We will start and finish at Leatherhead station (KT22 7SQ). Meeting point is outside platform 2 exit (Leatherhead station car park side).

In this beautiful trail, we will pass through ancient yew and boxwood woodlands, past England's largest vineyard, and along the scenic river Mole. We will pass some tunnels, hills and bridges on the way. The hike is going to be hilly which will pass through Box Hill and Denbies. This is a long walk and therefore, it will be at a medium to fast pace. This may not suit slow walkers as you may be left behind.

The walk is completely free. You need good hiking shoes, a packed lunch, and a good spirit. This is a moderate-level walk with a few inclines.

This will be approximately 17 kms hike. This is going to have lovely views along the way.

There is an impressive viaduct with great views, the reservoir which though it pales in comparison to the viaduct is still a sight in its own right, some good ascends, which you might say are hills, but they’re brief and the silver lining is it is great for your heart and the release of the happy chemicals plus you get great views at the top. Wear appropriate footwear as it can be muddy at times.

You can park at the car park at Balcombe station. We will be meeting in front of Balcombe Station at 10.30am.

The walk is completely free. The walk organiser will guide you through the route. You need good hiking shoes, a packed lunch, and a good spirit. This is a moderate / intermediate-level walk.

A walk through the beautiful landscape of Knole Park, which is a short stroll from Sevenoaks town centre. Knole Historic Deer Park, at Sevenoaks, straddles the Greensand Way and is the perfect place for walkers of all ages to enjoy long views across the North Downs. From here, you can also appreciate the changes of the seasons and wildlife amid historic trees and grasslands. The walk leads you through open countryside and woodland to reach Ightham Mote and Fairlawne Estate (two estates with intriguing histories). A lovely walk through the beautiful rolling Kent countryside. The walk follows mainly field and woodland tracks. There are also a couple of short sections of road walking along quiet country lanes with no pavements.

The walk has a few steady climbs and descents.

Things to look for...

- Deer
- Birds including parakeets
- Ice house
- Kentish ragstone
- Sweet chesnuts
- Views of the North Downs

The walk will be at a medium pace and is expected to finish by 6 pm and we can go to a pub when we finish. There would be some hills. Join us for a scenic 14-mile hike through the enchanting New Forest National Park and surrounding villages. Meet us at 11 am outside Brockenhurst Train Station, and let’s embark on a journey through ancient woodlands, rolling heathlands, and historic trails where royal hunts once took place.

Trail Highlights:

• New Forest National Park: Covering 566 square kilometers, this national treasure boasts unspoilt woodlands, heathlands, and even native New Forest ponies. From historic royal hunting grounds to becoming a National Park in 2005, it’s a remarkable place to explore.
• Picturesque Villages and Trails: We’ll wander along scenic forest paths and trails, soaking in the unique beauty of the forest and its surrounding villages.
• Pub Finale: After our walk, unwind and enjoy a pint at a cozy pub near Brockenhurst Station.

Getting There:
🚗 By Car:
Carpools and fuel-sharing are encouraged! Station parking is at postcode SO42 7PY. Drive time is around 2+ hours, depending on traffic.
🚆 By Train:
Catch a train to Southampton Central and connect to Brockenhurst. It can take about 2 hours, so plan accordingly.
Hike Details:

• Difficulty: Medium-paced with some hills.
• Time: Expected finish by 6 pm.
• End Point: Brockenhurst Train Station for a pub visit and an easy return.
