Intro to CAM & CNC
Details
Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is a critical skill in many hobbies in professional fields. It allows someone to create programs for computerized machines like CNC routers.
This CAM & CNC class covers the basic knowledge needed to program a CNC machine that could be found in the home shop, local maker space, or even professional shop.
Participants will learn about different CNC machines and processes and why CAM is used for CNC machines. They will program a part to be made on either a router out of wood or a plasma table out of mild steel and take home their part. The class uses Fusion 360, a common software package for hobbyists and professionals.
Participants do NOT need to have their own Fusion licenses for this class. CAD knowledge can be useful but is not necessary. Knowledge of milling can be helpful, but is not necessary. Freeside offers a separate class on how to use a Bridgeport Mill and a separate class on CAD.
