**What we'll do**
Let's enjoy lunch together at Studley Grounds Cafe, before visiting the wonderful National Trust heritage mansion, Villa Alba which this year is hosting the Inaugural Melbourne Sculpture Biennale.

Free entry to exhibition. Tax-deductible donations of $2 or more may be made to the Villa Alba Reception, to cover the cost of the exhibition.

**Getting there**
In setting the transport schedule, I've taken into consideration:
Scheduled Sunday protests in the CBD mean that buses won't run from Melbourne Central in the city, rather from Queensbury St, Carlton & trams from the city will be also be impacted.

I'll be taking Option 1. below, if anyone would like to travel with me from Flinders St station.

Option 1. **Train and Bus** \- From Flinders St station\, you'll take the Train to Victoria Park Station on the Hurstbridge line\. From Victoria Park Station you will walk towards Johnston Street\. Turn right and walk 10 metres to bus stop Victoria Park Railway Station \#270 Johnston Street $Abbotsford$\.

10:59am Hurstbridge train from Flinders St to Victoria Park Station (18 mins)
From the Victoria Park Station bus stop in Johnston St, take the 11:36am 207 bus towards Doncaster SC.
Arrives at Walmer St/Studley Park Rd (Kew) stop at 11:40am. (4 mins)
Walk (3 min.) to Studley Grounds cafe.

\*\*\*\*\*If you are coming in from the opposite direction -from Heidelberg or further out on the Hurstbridge line -, please note you will be on a replacement bus. There are no planned disruptions between Flinders St and Eaglemont station.

Option 2. **Bus only** \- The 200\-207 combined buses run from Queensbury St $intersection of Queensbury and Lygon St\, Carlton$ to and along Studley Park Road\. Your stop will be Walmer St/Studley Park Rd $Kew$\.

**What we'll see**
A survey exhibition of contemporary sculpture that will be held at Villa Alba, a National Trust heritage mansion in Naarm/Melbourne in October 2024. The inaugural MSB (Melbourne Sculpture Biennale) event will include sculptural works by 19 Victoria-based artists, and will be held 9-13 October.
Curated by Adam Stone and Laura Couttie (MSB Founders and Directors), the exhibition aims to showcase the breadth and diversity of contemporary sculpture.

**About Villa Alba**
Adjacent to Studley Park, Villa Alba was built and decorated between 1882 and 1884 for Anna Maria McEvoy and her husband, the banker William Greenlaw. It is crazy lavish, and was decorated in an Italianate style with hand-painted culturally significant interiors, created by the Scottish-trained interior decorators the Paterson Brothers.
The decor makes for a fantastic contrast for the sculptures, which will be scattered across the Villa and its garden.
The Villa Alba Preservation Committee began the process of restoration of the house and garden in 1984 and Villa Alba has been owned and managed by Villa Alba Museum Incorporated since 2004.
