ANNUAL FEES ANNOUNCE: Payment d’line now 60 days. Nobody Pays Twice
Details
Dear members, there is understandably confusion concerning the new membership dues payment system. Here are a few key points:
1. If you have paid by e-transfer or cash you will not pay again until a year after you paid last.
2. Nobody needs to pay twice. Unfortunately the new Meetup system does not have a feature in which people who have paid BEFORE the new deal can be shown to have paid. This is a big challenge. It might be that you will be removed automatically, have to pay again to be readmitted, and then get a refund by e-transfer. Sorry.
3. The new deadline for existing members who have not paid is now 60 days, SIXTY DAYS, as opposed to just 14 days before.
4. I am very sorry about all this dreadful confusion, it is the result of our own independent system being replaced by a better automatic system within Meetup itself, where Meetup's software - or at least the Credit Card processing company STRIPE - keeps the records. They want their 7.5 percent cut of your money so they have an incentive.
5. Please remember that member dues are paid to organizers by way of stipends, once the annual hosting fee has been paid.
6. Every attempt will be made to not bother members with a spray of emails and announcements, but things could be messy while we are in transition.
Thanks everyone for your patience, David Beattie.
