Woodsplitting

Details

Keeping park campers supplied with lots of split firewood not only protects the park from invasive pests but also generates thousands of dollars which can be reinvested in the park. No experience required!! Plus all of the hours accumulate toward free park passes and other rewards.

We use hydraulic splitters so no axe work is involved. While splitter operation is reserved for older volunteers, stacking split wood is an ideal family / student activity involving anyone aged 10 and up. It is also a great way to accumulate service hours for middle and high-schoolers because a single session can garner 4 or more service hours.

We have four wood splitters so no tools are required. Also, please remember to wear good shoes / boots, long pants and gloves if you have them (we'll have some too). And remember that you don't pay access or parking fees when you're volunteering. Just let the folks at the gate know that you're here to split wood and head on down to the woodshed.

See you there!
