What we’re about

Volunteer with the Friends of Powhatan State Park. We are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide volunteer and non-profit assistance to Powhatan State Park. We support the park operations by helping with maintenance, educational programs, staffing the park, and by hosting fundraising events in the park including trail running events and the Pawpaw Festival.

We are dedicated to furthering stewardship, conservation, and educational programs for all ages. If you enjoy volunteering, the outdoors and nature you are invited to join the Friends of Powhatan State Park.

Volunteer opportunities with the friends group will be posted on Meetup. There are some opportunities to volunteer without being a registered state park volunteer. Additional opportunities are available for registered volunteers. Registered state park volunteers earn loyalty points that can be used to obtain or offset the costs of annual passes, camping sites, yurt rentals and cabin rentals at any Virginia State Park. There are additional gifts that can be earned as volunteer hours are accrued.

Anyone can join this Meetup group. You do not have to be a state park volunteer to join the friends group and you do not have to be a member of the friends group to be a state park volunteer.
