Guided Nature Walk in Tecolote Canyon - Chateau Drive Entrance
Details
Join the Tecolote Canyon Interpretive Group on a guided nature hike of one of our most popular locations, the Chateau Drive entrance. The trail heads along the canyon floor crossing Tecolote Creek 3 times as it dips toward Balboa Ave. The trail passes under the shade of large oaks and through disturbed grassland meadows. Learn about the different habitats, plant, animal, and bird species during this 2.5 mile out and back hike. We'll meet at the park entrance at Chateau Drive and Genesee Ave.
Directions: From Balboa Avenue, turn north onto Genesee Ave. Follow Genesee about 1 mile till the stop light at the T-intersection with Chateau Drive. Turn right onto Chateau Drive, and park along the street. NOTE: There is no parking on Genesee Avenue.
GPS: N32.828886, W117.193601
There are no facilities at this entrance, though the hike starts/ends about a block from the North Clairemont Community Park where there are bathrooms and drinking fountains.
Hope to see you out on the trail!
