'Queer Culture Speaker Series' is a line-up of 3 talks over 3 weeks in November, organised by the Pink Alliance.
The second talk will be:

Queer Academic Journeys: Reflections on doing research in queer Asias
presented by Dr Benedict Rowlett, Associate Professor, Hong Kong Baptist University

Dr Rowlett will focus and reflect on aspects of his academic journey over the past 10 years as a white British queer man in Asia where he has conducted research on, variously, male sex work, gender and sexuality in language education, and Asian Pride events. He hopes to share perspectives about what, why, and how he researches as well as introduce my forthcoming co-authored volumes on “Pride in Asia: Negotiating ideologies, localness, and alternative futures” (Cambridge Elements) and a co-edited volume on “The Language of Sex Work” (Routledge).
