What we’re about
Do you ever wonder if God actually exists? Have you heard about people experiencing miraculous events but wondered if they were just luck or coincidence? Have you left your church because something didn't feel quite right, but want to be able to talk to people about their beliefs about God?
You are invited to join us as we share events that revolve around personal experiences with God, outside of religious frameworks. Please bring stories--your own or something you've read or heard.* Writing, that expresses the meaning the events had for you. Poems that share the deep impact an event has had. Books that you or someone else has written that show the difficult path of living outside of religious belief systems. And the history of belief systems going back to Socrates and beyond. This group isn't focused on material pertaining to christian or atheist perspectives, but everyone is welcome to participate in listening to presentations.
The name, G.O.M.E.R., has very special meaning to me. I was really excited when the first couple of words came to me, and I realized I could create the acronym, G.O.M.E.R., for this group!
FWIW, I've been carrying the stories I've experienced my entire life, but a huge shift occurred in 1998. So I'm very well aware of how hard it's going to be to find people to join the group. I don't care how fast the group grows. It doesn't reflect anything but religion's domination through fear and exclusion. I will continue to find ways to share what I've come to know.
