Companion apps are a category of mobile, desktop and web apps that are intended to work with a specific hardware device either as an adjunct or even as the primary user interface for the hardware device. These devices and apps cover everything from graphic design to consumer and professional audio. In this talk I will show you what makes companion apps different to other apps and then dive into the my latest project of building a companion app for a open source hardware audio sequencer/sampler device with Flutter.
