This month's film is “Soul Kitchen” and is hosted at The Peale. Movie is in German and will be played with English subtitles. Coffee and cake will accompany the movie.
"Soul Kitchen" is a 2009 German comedy-drama directed by Fatih Akin. The film follows Zinos Kazantsakis, a young restaurant owner in Hamburg, whose life spirals into chaos when a series of personal and professional mishaps occur. After his chef quits, his girlfriend moves to China, and his back problems worsen, Zinos struggles to keep his quirky restaurant, Soul Kitchen, afloat. The film is a heartwarming, humorous look at friendship, love, and resilience, blending food, music, and culture in a vibrant depiction of Hamburg’s urban life. "Soul Kitchen" received positive reviews for its lively energy and feel-good story.
