Charlottesville Grand Illumination

Event Details - In what has become an annual tradition for the City of Charlottesville, the City of Charlottesville will light the Christmas Tree in front of City Hall on December 6th. In addition to the lighting of the Christmas Tree, this is also the first Friday of December. On the first Friday every month, all the art galleries open their doors to showcase the talent of the local artists. We will meet in front of The Paramount Theater. We will first proceed to the Market Street Wine Shop for the weekly free wine tasting. Following the free wine tasting, we will walk to the multiple art galleries on and around the Downtown Mall before making our way to the Grand Illumination. There will be adult beverages, food, and treats at the Holiday Market at the Grand Illumination. The event is outlined below.

5:00 PM to 6:30 PM - Meet in front of The Paramount and go to Market Street Wine Shop.
6:30 PM to 7:30 PM - First Fridays Art Show. Tour the multiple art galleries on and around The Downtown Mall.
7:30 PM to 8:15 PM - Grand Illumination. We will enjoy the adult beverages, food, and treats. Most importantly, we will be near the Christmas Tree for the Grand Illumination at 8:00 PM.
