What we’re about
Do you love Jane Austen? Tea parties? Cultural activities? Nature hikes? Eating yummy food with nice people? Then this may be the Meetup group for you! The Jane Austen Adventurers’ Club is for women who want to make friends as they explore Arizona and participate in activities such as:
- museum visits & historic house tours
- concerts & plays
- luncheons & dessert outings
- walks & hikes
- tea parties
- book discussions (of Austen's novels, Austen-adjacent literature, historical fiction, etc.)
- classes (e.g., cooking, crafts, yoga)
The group is open to adult women (I'm 52), and most events will take place in the East Valley (e.g., Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler), although some will be further afield.
Things to Note/ Group Policies:
Please include a clear profile picture.
Most events are for small groups of 8–12 women; I’ll occasionally schedule events without an attendee limit. RSVPs tend to fill up quickly.
Kindly keep your RSVPs current. If you register for an event and then need to cancel your reservation, please do so *no later than* 24 hours before the event starts. (Earlier is better.) For some activities, I require 48 hours for RSVP cancellations. I remove ‘no-shows’ and frequent last-minute (less than 24-hour-notice) ‘cancellers’ from the group as they’re unfair to me, other members, and the vendors with whom we do business.
Also, if you’re waitlisted for an event, please keep track of your status. If a spot becomes available and you’re at the top of the waitlist, Meetup will automatically move you to the “Going” list. If you no longer wish to be on an event’s waitlist, update your RSVP as soon as possible and move yourself to the “Not Going” list.
